Hi, I’m Alex!
Travel has always been my biggest passion — from hunting down the best holiday deals to exploring hidden gems I never expected to find. This blog is my little corner of the internet where I share both my own adventures and the hours of research I do so you don’t have to.
Some of my favourite destinations so far include Kenya for an unforgettable safari, the paradise island of Mauritius, and the charm of Budapest. But I also love discovering the beauty right here at home in the UK — honestly, some of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever seen are right on our doorstep. My little sausage dog often comes along for the ride, making UK trips extra fun!
When I travel, I like to focus on the beauty of each place, while keeping my guides simple and easy to follow. That way, you’ll know what’s worth seeing without spending hours searching online.
I also live with a chronic condition, which sometimes means I need to make adjustments when I travel. Because of this, I’ve created an Accessible Travel section — a topic I feel isn’t spoken about enough, yet is so important for many travellers.

My Adventures:
Here’s a quick snap-shot of some of the best places I have ever visited to give you some ideas!
Kenya for an unforgettable safari:
We started in Mombasa, spending a few days on the stunning Diani Beach at Southern Palms Beach Resort. Honestly, I didn’t expect the beaches to be this beautiful — white sand, turquoise water, total paradise. There are plenty of trips here, from crocodile parks to safari options, but we decided on a boat trip with snorkelling. It was the perfect day out before a few days of relaxing at the resort, recharging for the safari ahead.
Next, we flew into Nairobi for a quick stopover. We visited the Elephant Sanctuary and the Giraffe Centre, where you can get incredibly close to these amazing animals — definitely one of the highlights of the trip. The following day we set off on safari, first stop: the Maasai Mara. The drive was long but scenic, and completely worth it. We stayed inside the reserve, spending a couple of days going on three game drives a day, meeting the Maasai tribe, and soaking in the breathtaking landscapes. If you can, don’t miss a hot air balloon safari at sunrise — it’s magical and hard to put into words.
From there, we headed to Lake Elementaita for an overnight stay in the Great Rift Valley, with a game drive at Lake Nakuru on the way. This spot is famous for its pink flamingos and white and black rhinos — incredible to see in person. The next day brought us to Lake Naivasha, which turned out to be my favourite. We took a boat across to Crescent Island Game Park for a walking safari. Being able to stroll alongside giraffes and zebras was surreal. On the way over, we even spotted hippos up close in the water — a truly breathtaking experience.
Finally, we returned to Nairobi for one last stop at the Carnivore Restaurant, a famous spot where we tucked into some seriously tasty food before catching our flight home.

Mauritius – A true island paradise!
We stayed at the Veranda Paul & Virginie Hotel in Grand Gaube, and this place was a dream. Picture an infinity pool stretching endlessly into the horizon, glass-bottom boat rides, and endless water activities right on your doorstep. The vibe in Mauritius is like nowhere else — so laid back and relaxed.
One of our highlights was a day trip to Casela Nature Park, where you can get up close with animals or try their amazing ziplining experience. Another unforgettable day was spent swimming with wild dolphins in the ocean — a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Afterward, we stopped at a secluded natural island for a delicious lunch surrounded by the most stunning views.
We also took a full-day catamaran cruise, which was the ultimate way to unwind — sailing, sunbathing, and soaking in the crystal-clear waters.
For a luxury holiday with a chilled-out vibe, Mauritius is unbeatable.

Next adventure – Budapest, and honestly, this has been my favourite city break so far! The city is simply breathtaking, every corner has something special to offer.
One of the highlights was a blissful afternoon at the Gellért Thermal Baths — the perfect way to relax in such a stunning setting. Even though Budapest is huge, we decided to walk almost everywhere to soak up as much of the city as possible. We also hopped on the hop-on hop-off bus, which was such an easy way to tick off all the big landmarks in a short time.
An absolute must is an evening cruise along the Danube — seeing the city’s landmarks lit up at night is unforgettable. We stayed right by St. Stephen’s Basilica, which was such a central spot and perfect for exploring.
Make sure you visit both Buda Castle and Fisherman’s Bastion — the views from each are outstanding. And, of course, don’t leave without trying a chimney cake (or a few, like I did!).
We also squeezed in a day trip to Vienna, hopping on the train there and back. With the hop-on hop-off bus, we managed to see so many of the sights in just one day — it was such a brilliant addition to the trip and well worth it if you have the time!

Now for my home away from home – Icmeler, Turkey. I’ve been visiting this beautiful resort for around 25 years, and honestly, I pretty much grew up here. It will always hold a special place in my heart, and I still try to visit at least once a year.
There’s just something magical about Icmeler — it casts a spell that keeps people coming back again and again. The Turkish hospitality is second to none, and the resort itself is absolutely stunning.
It may be on the smaller side, but there’s plenty to do. From relaxing boat trips and adventurous jeep safaris to lazy afternoons drifting along the river in Aykaya, you’ll never get bored. And if you fancy going further afield, you can join day trips to Ephesus or Pamukkale — both unforgettable experiences.

So these are my all time favourite destinations – so far! I would love to hear yours, feel free to leave them in comments!
